CREATOR LOGS:

Log 1: Creating the artwork-
I had drawn this on clip studio paint the plan was to create a traditional accordion book with an intractable piece at the end, although that piece for the digital version is a WIP. The pages were drawn as one long panel and extra pieces were added as needed, for example the boat on the last page and the inside panel on the page before.
Log 2: Exploration into webcomics-
Inspired by webcomics like Ava’s Demon, To Be Continued, and xkcd I wanted to create an infinite scroll comic although currently my skills are limited, so I went with a simpler format closer to Ava’s Demon. In the future, something with animated panels would be what I would like to delve into.
Log 3: Digital website builder-
I was quite limited in what I could choose to learn or use in this short week to create this project. So my choices ended up being carrd.co, neocities, straw.page, Google sites, Squarespace, and Adobe Portfolio. The ones I had to mark off that I can’t use ended up being Squarespace, Google sites, Adobe Portfolio, and straw.page due to their limited customization options. I did do an exploration into Microsoft PowerPoint and Google Slides, but due to the subject material I thought it would be best to stick to something easily accessible. With neocities and carrd.co as my last choices, I ended up choosing carrd.co and that's this current website right now. There was some testing on neocities, but due to its slow loading I could not full test out my HTML as I was adding it, making the process of trail and error very limiting to my designated deadline. Although, I would still love to test out more HTML and learn more about how to make a website fully from scratch.
Log 4: Putting together the website-
This was the fun part putting in my assets and adding small details like the animation, background designs, making sure the navigation works fine, and play testing. This was a mostly smooth process, but unfortunately this is where I learned I would have to scrap the animation and infinite scroll idea. I did however implement ambient sound, which can be toggled at the top and played on a separate tab. I did however try to integrate in into the website rather than an external link, but it looked atrocious, so I decided that an external link would be better.
Log 5: Destination End-
Through my struggles and successes, I think it turned out pretty well. It was fun to create, and I did learn new skills like some HTML, Java and CSS, as well as how to edit sound and understanding embedded links/files. There are also a bunch of resources out there, from the looks of it, to try out new things and to create a new website with some more features that I would enjoy. Anyway, thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed it!
